Senior Internal Control Specialist

MLE is looking for a hands-on Senior Internal Control Specialist for the HR, Internal Control and Compliance department.

This is a challenging role with significant exposure to various stakeholders (Senior Management, Finance Managers from our European offices, local Management Teams etc.). Effective stakeholder management and creating buy-in are therefore essential (personal impact, ability to connect, and persuasive skills). We have made good progress so far, but there are still several processes that need to be updated/upgraded or developed. Therefore, we are looking for someone who can think conceptually, is process-oriented and can establish and execute concrete actions.

The Internal Control Specialist reports directly to the Director HR, Internal Control and Compliance. 

Your responsibilities

  • Responsible for the Japanese SOX cycle at MLE HQ, which includes;
    • Design assessment, including documentation of the narratives, flowcharts and Risk and Controls.
    • Assessment of the Operating Effectiveness, including the documentation and filing of evidence.
    • Continuous improvements to the internal controls together with the Business and Finance dpt.
    • Perform Management Assessment on the Company Level Controls of the MLE Group Entities. 

  • Maintain close cooperation with the external auditor in Europe and the Internal Control department of the Head office in Kyoto (Japan).
  • Perform planning, execution and reporting of internal audits within the MLE group.
  • Work closely with the business to provide value-adding recommendations and follow-up and support implementation of those.
  • Advise, support and challenge the business on internal control, risk and compliance questions by acting as business partner throughout the entire MLE Group.

What you bring?

  • 6-8 years of experience in an Advisory firm in a similar role, or a related role in another (international) company with the appropriate scale and complexity in business processes.
  • Hands-on mentality and drive to professionalize our Internal Controls environment.
  • Good communication skills; being able to explain complex issues in an understandable way and works collaboratively with a process-oriented approach.
  • Strong ethical and interpersonal skills.
  • Fluent in English, written and spoken.
  • Willingness to travel.
